Washington, D.C. – Today, Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19), a former Vice Chancellor of Texas Tech, issued a statement commending University of Texas at Austin President Jay Hartzell for maintaining order on campus and preventing violent riots like those seen across the country.

"I applaud President Hartzell for enforcing law and order on his campus. Protecting students from criminal acts and ensuring they have access to the classroom and educational resources should not be a novel concept," stated Chairman Jodey Arrington.

Chairman Arrington also emphasized the importance of university leaders taking a strong stance against criminal activities targeting students, stating, "Whether the criminal agenda is directed at Jewish students or any other student group, university leaders should have zero tolerance for lawlessness and any threat to the safety of their students."

Expressing a call to action, Chairman Arrington urged university leaders nationwide to follow President Hartzell's example in standing firm against criminal protestors. He highlighted the balance between freedom of speech and the need to maintain order, stating, "The First Amendment guarantees Americans’ right to freedom of speech and assembly, but this right does not protect the lawlessness and criminal activity we are witnessing on so many college campuses across the country."

In a final note of praise, Chairman Arrington commended President Hartzell directly, saying, "President Hartzell, you are making ALL Texans proud!"
