WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) and Oversight Task Force Chairman Jack Bergman (R-MI) have raised concerns regarding the implementation of Administrative Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) provisions. In a letter addressed to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Shalanda Young, the lawmakers expressed their worries over the Administration's handling of the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA) of 2023.

The House Budget Committee Republicans emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility in the face of a growing debt crisis, stating, "As our nation stares down an unprecedented, and continuously growing debt crisis, the federal government should always strive to get its fiscal house in order and reduce spending." They also criticized OMB's interpretation of Administrative PAYGO, noting that it "ignores the measure’s original purpose – instead turning it into an ineffective budget exercise."

The lawmakers reiterated their commitment to monitoring Executive Branch spending to ensure that Congress is not bypassed, taxpayer funds are safeguarded, and the public is informed about the government's operations. They will continue to advocate for transparency and accountability in financial matters.

The call for the proper implementation and execution of Administrative PAYGO reflects the ongoing efforts of the House Budget Committee to address fiscal challenges and uphold responsible budget practices.
